Home alarm parts
Alarm system parts
Alarm system parts are the components that make up an alarm system. These include the system itself, accessories and power sources. All parts must be properly connected and compatible in order to operate as intended. Each system has different features and must be programmed according to its specifications. Once connected, the alarm system can be programmed to provide a variety of services such as security alerts or automated home control systems. One reason why alarm systems need power is because they need to be able to detect intruders or alert owners when something suspicious is happening. Power sources for these systems can come from a variety of sources such as battery or electricity from your home’s main power line. It is important to ensure that all parts are compatible with each other and that the correct potential source is being used for the system in order for it to operate correctly.
How does the alarm work?
Home alarms are part of the intrusion detection system, which are very helpful tools and actually contribute to increasing the safety of the inhabitants of your home.
While you are at home, the alarm system is turned off. There’s no need for him to stay awake during this time. He is then said to be disarmed. The system is still powered but no intrusion alarm will be triggered. Even in this situation, you are still protected. How? An attempt to open the control panel, detector or keypad may result in failure and damage to one of the components. At this point, the system will let you know that there has been a failure, and you will be able to react early enough.
Finally, there comes a time when you have to leave your household. No one else is in the apartment and you can arm the alarm. Before leaving home, you should go to the system control panel and enter your PIN. It usually has four to six characters. If the entered PIN is correct, the countdown to arming the alarm will start. This is usually 15 seconds or more. If there is still someone from the household at home, you will be notified with the appropriate type of alarm.
You come home and want to get to it without triggering the signal – how to do it? Well, the procedure for disarming the alarm is the same as for arming it. When you enter the room, the sensor detects movement and you should hear an appropriate sound signal. From this point you have 15 seconds or more (it all depends on the alarm model) to disarm your system. To do this, you must enter the PIN that you use for reinforcement. If your password is correct, the system will go into standby mode and you will be able to freely enter your home.
What if you miss your PIN and an alarm goes off? First of all, don’t panic. Go to the keyboard and enter the correct code. If the alarm sirens have been activated, they should automatically turn off after entering the correct password. Be sure to also notify the people who are responsible for monitoring your home that the alarm was false and there is no need to go to the scene.
Elements of the alarm system
Each intrusion reporting system consists of several basic elements:
-
The control panel is the brain and heart of every alarm system. It should be mounted in a protected place. The rest of the system’s wires extend from this box. There is also a back-up battery inside;
-
Keypad – thanks to it you are able to arm and disarm your alarm. It should be installed near the front door. It usually has a numeric keypad and LED lights. Modern devices also have an LCD display;
-
Sensors – are installed on the wall or ceiling. Thanks to them, it is possible to detect movement in the room in which they are installed;
-
Signaling devices – in the case of the anti-burglary system, there are two types: external acoustic-optical signaling device (informs the environment about a situation requiring intervention) and internal acoustic signaling device (makes a loud sound inside the building);
-
Notification modules/GSM dialer – informs relevant services about the activation or failure of the alarm.
