Best songs and studio albums

“Are you gonna go my way” – Undoubtedly one of the best opening riffs in rock music. Strong Hendrix sound, with the claw and ferocity characteristic of the 90s. – This is one of those songs that was created in 5 minutes – said the rocker in one of the interviews. – We started jamming and I felt something cool was going on, so I ordered the recording to start. And so it was created. Then I wrote the text on a paper bag. The song is about Jesus, whom Lenny Kravitz calls the greatest rock star.

“Always on the run” – The originator of this great song is Slash. The guitarist wanted to record the number with his band Guns N’Roses, but drummer Steven Adler reportedly couldn’t play such parts on drums. Rock and funk in perfect symbiosis.

“Black and white America” – How much is going on in this piece. A wonderful groove straight from the 70s, loose bass and a bit of shiny disco sounds. That I will not mention brass. A very neat combination of old school playing with modern. For this a bit of nostalgia and original text.

“It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over” – Rock ballads don’t have to be sloppy and cheesy at all. They can be sensual, pleasantly swinging and elegant. It is enough to be Lenny Kravitz and feel rhythm’n’blues. The inspiration was the work of Earth, Wind & Fire. Anyway, Phenix Horns from Earth, Wind & Fire was in the wind section of Kravitz. The lyrical subject is Lisa Bonet, the wife of a musician with whom he tried to come to terms after their breakup. The couple was married from 1989 to 1991. From their relationship, the daughter of Zoe was born, today an actress is taken.

“Circus” – Lenny Kravitz has many faces. “Circus” is one of the most interesting compositions in his oeuvre. Dramaturgy mixed with a raw rock sound, Beatles harmonies, with a hint of industrial coldness and the strength of an American stadium. The quintessence of the 90s. A fusion of Oasis and Aerosmith.

“Strut” – Although Lenny Kravitz became famous for his soft sound and inspirations from soul and R&B, he managed to surprise with raw sound in his later career. “Strut” is dirty guitars, clear “dry” rhythm and quite screaming vocals. “We are all different, so it’s a song about coming to terms with who we are and being proud of it,” explained Kravitz.

“Fly Away” was originally supposed to be a B-side, but it has become one of Lenny Kravitz’s most recognizable songs. A simple, classic guitar piece. Nothing more nothing less.

“American Woman” is not a Lenny Kravitz song. The Canadian group The Guess Who is responsible for the original from 1970. Of course, in the original version it was a tribute to Canadian women. Lenny Kravitz performs classic guitar playing. The number was created for the movie “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Never Dies”.

“New York City” – How many songs about New York were written. Lenny Kravitz’s one, with its clap rhythm, may not be as great as “Empire State of Mind”, but it is definitely one of the best. After slight modifications, it could easily be included in the Red Hot Chili Peppers repertoire.

“Believe” refers to the 70s – both with the style of playing the guitar, a slightly psychedelic atmosphere, and with this lyrical and dramatic transition. The music video was made by Michel Gondry, a French director who became famous with the movie “In Love Without Memory”, and also shot clips for Björk and The White Stripes.

Let love rule

In 1987, Lenny began dating actress Lisa Bonet. The couple had met two years earlier, but initially their relationship was based solely on friendship. The couple quickly decided to get married in Vegas. A year later, their daughter, Zoë, was born. In 1993, Kravitz and Bonet divorced, after which the artist dated many famous women. Following the divorce, he was seen with Vanessa Paradis, Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Kate Moss and Adriana Lima, among others. In 2004, he was associated with Nicole Kidman. Their relationship lasted less than a year. In 2018, the musician confirmed that he is meeting the star of the world’s catwalks, model Barbara Fialho.
